【摘要】:Pitchdoesnotgothroughasolid-liquidphasechangewhenheated,andthereforeitdoesnothaveatruemeltingpoint.Asthetemperaturerises,pitchsoftensandbecomeslessviscous.Thesofteningpointisarbitrarilydefinedandshallbeestablishedbyacloselycontrolledmethodwhichshallbecarefullyfollowediftestresultsaretobereproducible.Thistestisusefulindeterminingtheconsistencyofpitchasoneelementinestablishingtheuniformityofshipmentsorsourcesofsupply.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthesofteningpointofpitchesbelow176176F(80176C)bythismethod.PitchesofhighersofteningpointshouldbetestedbyTestMethodD2319orTestMethodD3104.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
